About Me

I am an integrative psychotherapist and counsellor with over 15 years experience working within the mental health field. I work both short and long term offering a safe, confidential and empathic space to explore what brings you to therapy.

I have experience working within the NHS in hospitals and GP's surgeries, within educational settings in schools, charities and in private organisations with a wide variety of presenting issues and clients.

My experience includes working with:

  • couples
  • depression
  • anxiety
  • personality disorders
  • abuse
  • self esteem
  • anger
  • relationship difficulties
  • family problems
  • eating disorders
  • domestic violence
  • redundancy

    Personal Approach

I am a relational integrative counsellor which for me brings a flexibility and creativity allowing for each client's unique needs and situation within the therapeutic relationship. I view presenting problems holistically within your personal and social context and look to understand and empathise using my training and experience to help support you and increase awareness of how you interact in relationships and the environment.

Each session is different but in general I will encourage you to talk and explore your feelings, beliefs, thoughts and experience. This is a collaborative process - working together to deepen understanding whilst keeping in mind the practical difficulties in your everyday life with an awareness of your hopes for the future.

I draw from humanistic, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural, transpersonal, gestalt and body psychotherapy. Primarily the space is for you to explore your thoughts and feelings without being judged or given advice - through this and the therapeutic relationship there is the opportunity for different perspectives, increased awareness, different ways of coping and a greater sense of autonomy and choice in your life.

Research consistently finds that it is the therapeutic relationship which is at the heart of therapy's effectiveness - I work with this strongly in mind.
